Hmm. Just hit the upgrade now for my number on the At&t mywireless site and this is what I get:
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are unable to support this request online. Please contact Customer Service at 1-800-331-0500 for assistance with your request. Message Number P1232"

My contact tells me the inventory desk will be accepting orders Monday the 16th. If it actually ships that day, they'll be in store Wednesday the 18th.
so, i call 611 to confirm the customer loyalty discount i'm getting and they confirmed i'll only get a $50 since i'm just shy of two years, but i'm also told the upgrade fee will be waived, so i've got that going for me, which is nice. then, i asked if she could confirm the 9700's release for next week. she didn't even know it was coming out....when i told her about it, she said she's DEFINITELY going to be checking that out!
I'm excited about the discounts too. I talked to them today about other things, but I was told that I'd get 100 off and a waived upgrade fee. I don't know if that's standard, but hey, more money saved for me. And I get an awesome phone, so win win (win).

who did you speak with and how did you get your fees it waved, I called and the CS lady i got had no idea it existed.
