Hi, What do you think is a better phone? I am thinking of getting either the iPhone 3gs or the new blackberry 9700. disadvantage's and advantages would be nice.

    Thanks

I personally am going from an iPhone 3gs to a 9700..I think the 9700 will be promising considering if you look at the crackberry homepage there are a slew of new apps coming out for bb's

iphone is a great phone but if you need to type a lot get the 9700

Getting a 9700 and an ipod touch to keep all my apps. Basically the same thing without the phone part. Ive started typing a lot more email lately and the on screen keyboard is frustrating for lots of email at best. Thats about the only downfall I can say about the iphone platform IMO.

The Essex is better then the 9700. Why won't you wait a little while for that?

    The Essex=the sex

Because Bell is HSDPA and the Essex is CDMA?

Theyre basically the same phone, dont see how its better. Its the Tour with the 9700 trackpad and memory and WIFI.

Dunno where youre getting this wrong info from but the Essex is just an upgraded Tour, think the 9700 CDMA equivalent

Just a Tour+trackpad+wifi which is the same as a 9700. Dont see how its "better, or <"

    Its basically a CDMA 9700.

my mistake.. i was merely saying

if we are going to wait for 3 months after another..
and if... 9700< essex <dakota/magnum .... then we would be always waiting forever, 3 months after 3 months..

didnt intend to imply Essex is better than 9700.

not sure if this is true or not but on the bell website the iphone shows data up to 7.2mbps and the 9700 only shows 3.6mbps?

@ that age and for your uses the iphone would fit your needs better along with your pref for touchscreen phones

I type faster and more accurately on my iPhone than I ever did on my Bold. I think it comes down to preference.

You want an iPhone specifically for the music and games. It's the better choice.

No denying that, but try doing that for 2 or 3 paragraphs. It does get frustrating at times.

Funny... I went to the iPhone from a Blackberry and an iTouch because I was tired of carrying two devices around all the time.

I type the same speed I think but the auto-correction on the iPhone is just freakin' stellar. Only real issue I have with it is that I fat-finger the backspace key more often than I'd like when I want to hit the 'M' key.

I just switched to the iPhone today. I didn't choose the bold 9700 because it isn't that great of an upgrade for me to consider. But if you have a lot of international friends, bbm will come in handy. If I had more international friends with blackberries, I would have chose the 9700. You have to weigh your wants and needs to see which phone meets those requirements. Good luck making your choice.

The iPhone beats all BB's in terms of music and games, so if that's what you do the most of your phone get the 3GS. The Bold 9700 is a great phone too, but I think you'll be happier with the iPhone. Or you could get the Bold 9700, get an iPod touch and jailbreak & download some emulators. Then you're SET!

I'm 17 and considering switching from the 3gs to the 9700. The poor battery life makes it impossible for me to use msn messenger and browse as much as I'd like to. The browser on the 9700 may not be as great but a crappy browser is better than a dead phone.
