Quicklaunch is one of many that are out there. It only works for the native Blackberry apps though. (phone, browser, BBM, etc.)

Stop Tilt now works with 5.0 as well. QL is your best bet though as you get incredible functionality for a cheap price.

+1 for quick launch. It's like 5 or more programs in 1.

Since QL doesn't run in the background, would I need to open it simply to have the native apps stay locked to, for example, portrait-only mode?

No in the settings menu you can add it to your regular menu for your BB button.

I use StopTilt and have used it every since my S1. I love that app. Its light weight, does its job well, and i think it was worth the $3 i paid for it. Or maybe it was less? idk lol.

Everytime I have switched devices, all I do is email them and give them my new pin and BAM its activated on my new phone. I love the app! It gives you an option in the BB menu to Disable Auto Rotation or Enable it after its been Disabled.

It works for every native app I have tried (phone, browser, main menu, BBM, SMS/MMS/Email folders) without a problem.

You have to add it to the menu. It is under the QL options.
