Nicer screen image
Trackpad is great
Sleek design to better fit for holing it in terms of size
Browser seems to render pages quicker on the rogers 3G
Very nice picture taking quality (has auto focus now)

Hey guys, just picked up one today coming from using a 9000
Key things about the bold that I wanted improved,
better pocketability
more secure battery door MORE MEMORY
The 9700 address all those concerns. The speaker quality is nowhere near as nice as it is on the bold, however, it is still very clear and loud. Another thing, I was running 5.0.0.314 on the 9000, which was very quick as far as Bold OS's went, but the 9700 flat out blows it out of the water. Whether it's memory, OS, processor, optimization, I don't know, but it flat out WORKS.
As far as i'm concerned, if the 9700 is an option, I wouldn't even consider the bold.
From what I heard, Bold 9000 speaker quality is better than Bold 9700.
I think the same thing of the 9000 vs the 9630. My coworker and I compared speakers from my 9000 to her Tour and although the Tour is definitely louder the quality of the sound from the speaker is much better on the original Bold.

The ram is double that of the old bold and on par with the jav. But what I've noticed (I was alternating between bold and jav before I got my 9700 so I know what I'm saying) is NO MEMORY DRAIN. Anotherwords-- I've had 124.1 mb of free mem available since friday. My bold was a disaster for ram. My jav had ram but between batt pulls-- it dropped like 20mb from its peak.
I'm happy about this since the quickpull guys can't get their app to work with 5.0
