I pretty sure that the only diffrences are cosmetic, what Sal said, and the bold 2 has a faster processor.

Personally, I'd go with the Bold 2. But I'm most likely going to wait for the Magnum which won't be for another year

When telus gets this device, will it be under the new network HSPA or the old network CDMA????

Does both the Bold2 9700 and Tour2(Essex) operate with HSPA for data?
    Both have Wifi
    Both have GPS
    Both have optical Trackpad
Believe both have the 3.2 MP camera

Othly diff I see is the GSM vs CDMA.
But I heard that the ESSEX has options for a SIM card (worldphone capable)

The Tour gsm frequencies are for Europe only (hence the sim card/world phone), so in North America you will only be able to use it on cdma ( no sim card needed).

From what I have read, the bold2 also has a faster processor and better battery life than the Tour2.

If I had a choice, I would go with the Bold. As I am with Verizon, I will be buying the Essex when it is released.

Anybody know when this is going to be released? Planned on buying the Tour at the end of the month but it looks like I'm going to have to wait.

lol - what more reason do you need?

but seriously.. they are very similar, so i would pick the phone that can be used by the carrier that's best for your area. also keep in mind - the essex will be able to use cdma AND non-3g gsm, so that's a plus.

Yep, I love the ability to use Verizon and AT&T's service (with a pre-paid SIM).

This is not so.The Tour(and I presume the Tour2) is also a quad-band GSM device. Once you have the Tour2 unlocked you can use a T-Mobile or AT&T SIM card.GSM data will only be EDGE. Can you use the Tour's WiFi while operating it in GSM-mode?
