I just got off the phone with the OWNER of my local Rogers and he told me the new bold is still at least 30 days away. I really need a new phone now. Should i just fold and get the Bold 9000 he can give me one at a great price??

The OWNER is either pulling you leg or not very smart. Rogers will have the 9700 with in the next few days
no way it will launch that far behind telus and bell. If it does, I will just buy it from Telus or Bell and unlock it. Makes no difference to me if i buy it from rogers or some other carrier now...
no more exclusivity!! I might even pick up the HTC Hero.

Let me guess he can give you the Bold for $99? They are only a week away unless for some strange reason RIM holds them back for a OS upgrade.
You would have to get a contract with Telus. No carrier will sell a BlackBerry Device unless you are one of their customers. Their phone needs to be activated on their network.
Only other option is to buy the phone from a store that is not a carrier...like those cell phone kiosks you sometimes see in malls.

Rogers can be sold Curve 8900(599$cdn) or 8520(449$cdn) without subscription(contact). Why he would not sell me one 9700?
a friend of mine works at a rogers store and he says when the phone is released they'll be able to sell it without contract to non customers he just doesn't know the exact release date(but thinks it should be pretty soon) and the exact price
T-mo wont launch the 9700 until december. They have dummy phones and a few models. I played with one at a store yesterday, and i say its well worth the wait

Well that's news to me because I've been to Telus, Bell and Rogers, and all of them said that they cannot sell one of their BlackBerry Smart Phones outright without it being activated on their network. It's a policy from what I've been told. If your friend is selling phones without a contract or Rogers account, he's breaking policy.
I have just called up at Rogers's, the person said to me that she did not know when was going to be 9700 available not the price. On the other hand, he said to me that it would be possible to buy it without contract but that he will be much more expensive. Who really says?
what i found quite strange was that my work has a few Bell 9700 devices in transit currently and the Rogers 9700 has 0 in transit as well as 0 in transit to the warehouse.. do u guys think Bell will release before Rogers then? btw Telus 9700 isnt even in the inventory system so i dunno about them..

reason I ask is because I am constantly checking for any update about the release date for the 9700 and I cannot find a thing other than the BGR report of 11/16.....and I mean checking CONSTANTLY......
Well i guess until the device is actually in stores were all pulling it out of our ***. Time will tell. I have an ex co-worker that is now with t-mo, and thats the info that ive got. The new android click is supposed to release in a week or so, and like i said from that she simply said "not until december"
