Is there a way to change the settings for text messaging to expand past 160 characters for 1 text message? Most BBs allow you to continue to type so you have pages but I am not finding this on the Tour.

BB tech told me they had no idea, and the 3rd guy I talked to said it's not possible.

I find it hard to believe a BB cuts off a text at 160 characters.

Anyone know!?

all BB's are like this, unless you have a 3rd party app like "beyond160".

No, you can not and there are tons of threads on this board about it. do a search to find out more.

Just send it as an mms and you can go up to 1000 characters i believe

Not everyone with whom I communicate can receive MMS. It's not always an option.

Not on Sprint or Verizon it didn't.

They have never supported extended SMS on BlackBerry.

Some GSM carriers do support it on BlackBerry. And Sprint and Verizon support in on other devices.

SMS, always been limited for 160 characters, for a good reason.. so that people don't bore the recipient Less is more.

no it wont i had beyond 160 before i upgraded to os .230 and it didn't work. so i uninstalled it but its cool because .230 has the threaded sms and after u send the first one you can continue on with ur text
