I upgraded my Storm's OS this morning. The only real problem that I have had is that most of my calender entries were duplicated on my Storm. I then sat down and systemactically deleted all 1794 of the new duplicate items. When I re-synched, about a third of the duplicates came back.
BTW, there are no duplicates in Outlook.

Any thoughts on what is wrong and how I can permanently fix it?

Clear your calendar databases and then sync; should be fine.

Thanks Matt and Phil ...worked like a charm. I had envisioned myself manually deleting almost 1000 calendar entries by hand!
