I'm porting over our family's plan, except for one line - my BlackBerry I use for work. Will a tech at an AT&T store be willing to swap the face place on my Sprint 8830 (which is identical to AT&T's 8800)? I'd be willing to pay. I simply want uniformity.

Or is this against company policy or something? I saw that I can buy the entire housing and do it myself for about $40, but that seems very inconvenient, and wasteful since I only want to swap the front face place that has the AT&T logo on it.

simply put no they won't. you have to do it yourself and it's really not that hard. besides the 8830 will not work on att due to the bands that each carrier operates on. AT&T operates on the 850/1900 band, and the 8830 has the 900/1800 band.

heres a link to the specs of the 8830

I would not let any in-store rep disassemble my device for any reason whatsoever. If anyone's going to void my warranty, it will be me.

jackie_treehorn : +2 for what you said, and all that stuff, there.

You have to remember, the reps in a store are sales reps, they are not techs of any kind. They have no training for taking apart or putting together a cell phone. Plus stores won't allow it for liability purposes. But you can do it yourself, its very simple.
