Why you will be switching to the 9700,I want 1 not 2 not 3 but 1 reason why,I know other threads are similar but I didn't see one asking for 1 reason, reason I ask is the 9700 looks similar and has similar specs and the 8900 does 99% of what the 9700 does so why sidegrade(my opinion)
Please refrain from polluting the forum with repeat posts like this. You CLEARLY know there are many other active threads on the same topic, yet you chose to create a new thread anyway. Doing things like this is what makes Crackberry polluted and less effective overall as an informative place for people to find information.
Also, before you reply back with "your post was not helpful to the forum" or "just do not read the thread", etc, etc keep in mind that if you had just joined a thread (one of the ones you already mentioned you were aware of) then I would never have had a reason to post my thoughts.
Now to the question. I have no intention of switching . The 9700
is not even on my radar.
Trackpad? meh. 3G? Didn't need it when I had a Bold. Other than
those two things it's just another retreaded device that we
have come to expect from RIM.
Innovation is obviously not a word they understand.
I will be staying on my 8900 because I just got it a few months ago and would have to pay full price.
Now in 1.5 years I will get what ever will be coming after the 9700.

Bigger keys/better keyboard on the 9700 - my only real complaint about the 8900 has always been the way-too-small keys.
I know that's a personal preference thing, though, and many people like the Curve layout w/ the separated keys.
But I really prefer the bigger keys that line up right next to each other like the Bold/Tour/9700/88xx
Trackpad is nice too.
I'm honestly not a high powered enough BB user to need the upgraded internals at this point though. Would be nice but not necessary - but I still obviously use the keyboard all the time and would prefer a different layout.
i'm not switching but i am gonna buy one when it drops for tmo. i wont get the full discount but with their new price plans i heard you can stretch out the payments through a 20 month period.
Yes, I can't wait for the 9700. Need the 3G so I can use voice and data at the same time.. Spend a lot of time on long conference calls while traveling and it is nice to be able to get e-mails done at the same time. This is what I miss most from being on the Bold with AT&T
I'm not planning on switching to the 9700, but I'm eligible for an upgrade now. So if there is a really good deal on the onyx somewhere I may have to get it
Not switching.. Only big enough difference is 3g and its not very good in my area anways. My 8900 should do fine although im due for an upgrade in january.
I would like to own a 9700. I buy my phones full price so that I can switch cariers at will.
I am beginning to need 3G since I cannot seem to get EDGE on O2.
I am in love with the trackpad.
My question to myself is really this. The 9700 is an 890 with 3G and a trackpad. What comes after the 9700, when will it be out and will I want that even more?
I'm not getting one! My 8900 is in perfect shape, plus the 9700 isn't that much different.... other than the OS 5.0, which i heard 8900 users are getting also, and the trackpad, and 3G. 3G kills the battery faster, and i need my battery! Trackpad is better but i see no reason in upgrading just because of that!
Has anyone else noticed that the 9700 looks nothing like the original bold? More like the 8900? Even the tour looks more like the bold than the 9700. I'll just wait for the dakota! Now that's a phone worth upgrading to. 3G, Touch screen, physical qwerty, better camera, new browser, bigger size, and screen, better battery life, trackpad, new OS. But that's just me! Everyone else... enjoy your 3G and trackpad
T-mobile doesn't have 3G where I live. As said above, without the 3G, the 9700 is basically an 8900 with a trackpad and a little faster processer. Not worth the $$$$ to upgrade for that.
