Mine was around 37 before I installed appworld,Snaptu and BBM. I downloaded BBM and deleted app world, ubertwitter, and facebook and it is at 36. I figured I would be at least at 39, but BBM seems to take up a good amount of memory. I plugged my BB into the DM and it says the new BBM is 3 MB.
Give BBM about 10 minutes to work out the kinks. I so far have found out that after restarting the phone it is taking a couple min to get everything synced. This last time I restarted the phone it was pretty quick once everything loaded.
It looks like it is just making sure everything is in sync and using some memory/ juice in the process.

7MB of extra memory for a 2MB program to sync a couple contacts OTA? This makes Windows Vista look anorexic
Just to see what would happen, I reloaded my OS for the heck of it, and then I downloaded BBM from the BlackBerry Mobile site. That one did exactly as I expected and after reloading the rest of my applications and restoring my data, I'm sitting back at 39MB, which is essentially where I was after installing the .238 hybrid initially.
Not saying you need to reload your OS or anything, but by avoiding installing App World to install this, everything seems to be all good.
