Is there any indication to when an OFFICIAL 5.0 OS will be available for upgrade?? I am running 4.7.0.148 which was the last official release in my understanding and I can deal with it but some of the perks of 5.0 sound nice but I would rather stick to official OS's. Has there been any info on the next release?

I don't think there is a release date set for 5.0, RIM is pretty tight lipped about it (and when they do set a release date, they generally don't stick to it). Out of curiosity, why don't you want to install a beta OS?

I don't think any official statements have been made, but its a pretty good bet that the official 5.0 OS for the storm 1 will not be released until after storm 2 hits the market. November would be my guess as the earliest possibility for it to release. Since it will be up to the carriers to release it Verizon in this case it may take longer as they have already demonstrated. Why do you prefer to stay with official releases?

You said you can deal with .148 for now, but why would you put yourself through that. Everyone is benefiting from .230 and your are sticking with .148 out of some sense of wrongness in running a leaked software. I say get with the program and Man Up, download .230 and start loving your phone again. I did it on my phone and I am EXTREMELY glad I did. I also upgraded 2 of my co-workers phones which have also been on .148 and they would have never upgraded because they don't have any idea how. Now both of them come up to me nearly every day and say how much they love their phones now and how better they are. I would just take the dive download .230 if I were you and worst case scenario if your not happy with it for whatever reason just downgrade back that prehistoric OS they call .148. Good luck either way.

I am on the verge of upgrading the more and more I read into it. Whether to simply go to .167 or all the way up to .230 is now the question. I have read posts about needing to install .191 and THEN .230... Is that still the fact or is it legit to jump from 148 to 230?

no...there is now a full 5.0.0.230 install. You no longer need to install .230 over .191.

X2 There is a full install. I never saw the need to change to it though. My "hybrid" .230 works flawlessly for all of my needs. I would recommend upgrading though it is so much nicer having a smooth functioning storm.

    Everyone,

Thanks for replying to me post regarding .230. I have been searching the forums and have found so much information regarding .230 OS's it's overwhelming. If you know where to easily find the link to the full .230 download it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

If you use Rhapsody, I would not upgrade to 5.0 just yet. I don't think it works with any of the 5.0 leaks. If someone has come up with a fix for Rhapsody I would re-install the OS ASAP though. 230 was great for every other reason.
