Sounds great but shouldn't this thread be in the 8520 forum? I almost got excited and thought that it's for the 8900.

Yea, it was a typo. I had 5 OSes to host and link to so I had copied the contents of the first topic and replaced the link with each OS respectively. Just forgot to change the device name in the content of the post. I corrected it now and all 5 posts/topics are as they should be. I was rushing to get it hosted for everyone. Just always check the links because I test those, I just don't proofread my posts, lol.

It's probably as safe as any other BETA OS... which does not mean safe in my book... I'll wait until it becomes official.

I'm waiting. My 8900 is running perfectly right now and no reason to lose apps or mess it up. Hopefully the official version is right around the corner.

If I did the upgrade and I'm not happy is it easy to downgrade to my previous version?

I see in BM 5.0 when I look for updates it shows the following:

    Blackberry 5.0
    Blackberry 4.6.1.152 (Current)
    Blackberry 4.6.1.94 (Downgrade)
    Blackberry 4.6.1.75 (Downgrade)

If I downgrade to my current version after installing 5.0 will all my settings be the same? Like my vendor info etc....

Do I loose my contacts info and messages?

    Hope someone will help me.

nope. just be sure to back up your phone and restore it after installing, then all settings + messages + contacts will be stored. i'm not sure with the calendar tho, coz whenever i restore, my calendar entries are gone..

If you don't know how to downgrade your device you might want to become familiar with that procedure before attempting to upgrade... check out the Blackberry 101 lesson on the subject... also check out the Upgrade/Downgrade procedure linked in my signature below.

Because if you do upgrade, you will need to go to the BETA OS forum to get advice on downgrading... a lot of us are tired of giving this advice when people attempt this and don't know how to get themselves back to a working OS.

Then I'll rather just keep my current version. I don't want to trouble anyone to help me downgrade if I have to.

That's what forums are there for anyway. Or that's what I thought. For people to help each other.

So I'll wait for the official v5 then.

    Thanks
