should i sell my 8900 and get a 9700 when it comes out?
is the 3G, better keyboard, faster cpu, small form factor worth the upgrade?
the only thing i dont like is the trackpad
    what do you guys think?

well, the only thing i'm not sure about is the weight--the 8900 is super light. the trackpad feels weird at first but after a few minutes you start to get used to it and it's awesome how you're not moving your thumb around as much and clicking down is easier. (I actually CB so much my thumb will hurt if i have to press down on the ball so i usually prefer enter or menu). do you need 3G data speeds--are you away from wi-fi that much? while the 9700 looks to be awesome i can't say it looks like the kind of shift an 8700 to 83XX was. if you have the money i'm sure you'll enjoy it but otherwise i can't see you missing out on any major experience.

kind of like HDTV, you've got CRT, LCD, Plasma, LED, DLP, proj, etc but in the end they're all awesome and better than standard TV, right? IMHO...

I'm thinking of doing the same thing but for the opposite reason. I WANT the trackpad so badly. I hate the trackball of my 8900. It got stuck too often.

The reasons that you've mentioned? It's nice to have the body size of an 8900 with the keyboard of a bold, plus 3G. Overall, i think you, no, I should. At least I think I will.

Everything you just asked you need to ask yourself, as everyone here will give you different responses. But me personally I plan on getting the 9700 on the day it's available with at&t. I will also keep my 8900, and it'll just be another backup to my collection.

I say do it! I'm happy with the 8900 so I'll be using this until its time for a full upgrade.

I will most likely have both as well. That's the beauty of GSM, switching devices is easy....

I will be doing it if I have to. If I have the funds to buy it without selling my 8900 I'd rather do that, but I probably won't. I have no use for the 8900 once the 9700 comes out unless its for backup. There is no need to be greedy. I know someone out there would love a blacked out 8900 and will treat as well as I've treated it!

mmh thanks for all the answers. right now the choice isnt hard to make and thats because the 9700 hasnt even come out yet :P
the reason i chose the 8900 over the bold was the better camera, smaller form, wifi, and the bold just didnt attract me too much. but now the 9700 has a better camera, much smaller then the bold, better battery life with 3G so it would be a good upgrade. i dotn have the money to buy a brand new phone so i would need to sell my 8900 or get a job haha. as for the weight i think it only weighs liek 120 g and the 8900 weighs aroudn 109 g. i could be wrong.
also i dont use wifi as my wifi internet in the house sucks and it was battery. is wifi really much faster?

can anyone post all the differences of the 8900 vs the 9700(weight, features, hardware, etc...)

Eventually, I'll probably switch, but I just GOT the 8900 a month ago, lol :P Perhaps once the infamous trackball wears out, which will give me an excuse to buy the 9700... It's pretty much a Curve with 3G, a trackpad, and a Bold keyboard anyway :P

i guess he just thinks the 9700 is the best phone in the world so to ask wether to buy it is a stuped questions because you should. still debating on wether or not.
anyone posting up specs for both phones soon?

Lol I must be the only one who thinks the 8900 keyboard rocks compared to the Bold/tour. I so wish I could have it back!

I hate keyboards where the keys are all side by side touching each other. For me, it is much harder to type of that keyboard versus the one on my 8900 and my old 8320. I like the trackpad but that other type of keyboard is a deal breaker for me.

I'll definitely try to sell my 8900 and pickup the 9700 if I still have the 8900 that is.

I would try out the trackpad first...I thought it was kind of cheesy on the new lower model one T-mobile has, but I've read that it feels nicer on the 9700.

Other than that it should be the best of both the 9000 and 8900 and definitely the one to have.

Having owned a 8830 and how much I love the keyboard on my 8900 this is what might be the dealbreaker for me. I would love the trackpad and 3G.
