It will be more than 699.99 without contract. That's how much the Bold costs right now.

In America, I'm guessing based on other pricepoints it will be available initially for 299.99 on a 2-year contract.

Us Canadians, who invented the device, will most likely get shafted with a 399.99 on a 3-year plan.

Remember that the Bold is still officially sold by Rogers at 299.99 on a 3-year and the Curve 8900 is sold for 224.99 on a 3-year.

I have a very strong feeling that the Onyx is going to replace the Bold's price, the Bold will replace the 8900 and then the 8900 price will drop.

Actually if you look on the Rogers website the Bold has dropped to $249.99 and the 8900 has dropped to $199.99 on a 3yr plan.

    $699 will be stupid price.
I understand that new stuff and technology is expensive but why a phone that is not even touch screen will cost that kind of money, its not even world capable, so honestly more than 600 for this phone will be really stupid.

Why? just becouse is the first BB running on GSM with 3g speed?
They should done this long time ago.

I cant wait for the phone come out, but if they gonna try to take advance of this, i will stay stick with my storm Running on the EDGE until they drops the price....

the price is going to be the same as a non contract bold when it came out 599.99.

Then the next question logically is, at what time increments does the price start to drop and by how much?

i honestly never knew how much a Bold costed....cause im with tmobile and the blackberries prices were always in the high four hundreds ranges

They can t charge more then they charge for the actual Bold as they would loose to many clients as RIM arrived already at the limit price range!

i'm with you on this because i'm ready to get this phone but not for that price! I'll just hold on to the 8900 til the price is reasonable.

Yea I hope this thing has a pretty good price on tmobiles side. Because Im up for a contract extension so its either this at a good price or the 8900?

May be off topic may not be, but does anyone know what tmo or att will give credit for turning in a recent blackberry. I'm probably going to give in my 8900 to tmo but not if they're only going to give me 40 bucks for it or something.

It's not the first 3G GSM BB (that'd be the Bold) and it is a world capable, the at&t version is compatible with international edge/gprs as is the t-mobile version, and the 3G should work too on the at&t model.

$600 without a contract's pretty standard on a phone like this.

    You're wrong with this...

Companies raise the price all the time. Especially if the next product is significantly more expensive to manufacture. Much more expensive to put a touch-sensitive trackpad than a cheap trackball.

I can easily see this going for $50-$100 more than a Bold.

Every company does this for a variety of products from electronics to cars. Though they cannot go too high because people won't want to buy it, they will try to make it as close as possible.

Example: Top of the line Samsung 52" 120 HZ LCD costs $3799.99 in 2009. Next-years model adds LED-backlighting, 240 HZ, available for $3999.99 in 2010. Comparable prices, but the newer model device is higher.

I agree with everybody else, not OVER $300, and I would hope for #19 I am willing to spend $200 with a 2 year contract without even re-thinking this haha, but $300, I'd think about it

Hello sir from Venezuela, I'm sure you can always get it unlocked even if the Onyx is released with at&t or Tmo, if it is a GSM smartphone, it can be unlocked to work with any carrier, Claro Wireless I believe.
