- It is just the size, camera, and trackpad? Software can be upgraded correct? So if I could get a Bold for free and wait awhile on the "next gen BB" would you suggest it or would you say no just wait for the Onyx?08-27-09 07:45 AMLike 0
- More memory too, also, the processor may be faster, but that hasn't been determined yet. If you can get a Bold for free, minus a contract, then I suggest getting a Bold, then trying out the Onyx to see whether you like it or not. If the Bold for free, is only with a 2 year contract, I'd forget that and get the Onyx. It's worth it imo. Just wait until you see it, and use it in person, and compare it to the Bold. I have, and Onyx wins, hands down. Looks, size, specs, and usability.08-27-09 07:58 AMLike 0
- i am having the same dilemma, but i won't be getting the bold for free i'd have to pay a 2 year contract price around 199 for att. Is it worth waiting for the onyx and paying the extra when they do basically the same things? also if i can get the bold and use it until the magnum comes out (if ever) then i wouldn't mind just doing that either, what do you think?08-27-09 12:56 PMLike 0

- When I see the two... I don't look at the price to buy on contract alone.
I look at (rough/example prices)
Onyx = $300 + $60/month (for 3 years, in Canada) = $2,460
Bold = $200 + $60/month (for 3 years, in Canada) = $2,360
The comparison would be $2.16/day for the Bold and $2.25/day for the Onyx. I would throw an extra ten cents away, daily, for a newer, if only slightly upgraded, machine.08-29-09 02:03 AMLike 0 -

That is ridiculously cheap for all that. Bold is great. Unless you must have the latest & greatest the speed difference will be negligible.

Its not like this is the 8310, this is the bold, its not even a year old yet. So Im sure the Onyx wont blow it away, in fact, this may be Rims downfall, to many phones, to soon08-29-09 06:59 PMLike 0 - The ONYX doesn't bl0w the d00rs 0ff the BOLD its meant to coincide with RIM's new design language with the beveled top and the 8900/Tour l00k. If you l0ve y0ur B0LD and d0nt get the 0NYX then wait for the STORM 2 0r the hybrid touchscreen/Qwerty. D0nt be a f00l just because y0ur ego wants y0u t0 have the latest and greatest 0f stuff. If it aint br0ke...Why replace it?

- Upgrading to the 9700 from the Bold is a no brainer, if you can.
The 9000 is your 2008 model
The 9700 is your 2010 model08-30-09 12:17 AMLike 0 - 2010? If it is coming out this year (as phonegeek says it should if there isn't any last minute problems [last time I checked CB, though]) then how is it a 2010 model? The Bold, if not mistaken, was released in November of last year and apparently the 9700 is coming out November this year. This means the 9700 is only a year younger than the Bold.
Of course, this is I'm correct of what I vaguely recall.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com08-30-09 01:37 AMLike 0 - I'm using the Curve and like the spaces between the keyboard letters that the Bold and Tour don't have. Will the Onyx keyboard be the same as the Bold in that the letters are tightly spaced?
Also, sorry if I missed a post, but what color(s) will the Onyx be available in through Verizon?08-30-09 09:18 AMLike 0
