I'm not an 8520 user, however I am interested in the device and I follow the forums daily. The one thing that I've noticed however compared to the 8900 forums it doesn't seem like there is even 1/4 as many 8520 users as there was around this time after the 8900 was released.

The reason that there arent as many 8520s as 8900s is because most of the people who bought the 8900 are not eligible for an upgrade with 8520. So, not many people are willing to pay full price now.

Yea,when the 8900 came out for T-Mobile there was really nothing to compete with it.The 8520 goes against the 8900 which is better equipped and only slightly more expensive so odds are more casual BB people will pick the 8900.T-Mobile's ridiculous instore 8520 prices really favor the 8900.

That's something I understand, it just shocks me how few people post anything anout the 8520 in here. The majority of the polls are all comparisons started by people who don't even own the device.

I upgraded to the frost only 2 or 3 days after the 8520 came out, because they are only 48.88 at wal mart, so thats a fair price. I simply didnt like the frost, because i dont know if i had e defect, but i could practically se its innards through the keypad, mainly the light bulbs. I took it back and wrestled the idea of getting the 8820 0r the 8900, but after a week, decided to give the black 8520 a second chance. im glad i did because i love it!I cant see its guts and I put on the clear shell which bulked it up a bit, and got a few Elicite themes on it, and I am satisfied with it 100%. I will only be getting 1 more BB for a long time and thats the Onyx (or driftwood) when it comes out. Im positive that I can never be satisfied with anything but a BB since I got my 1st one a little over a year ago!!

Ok, you all are gonna think i'm nuts, I went from a bold to the 8520 and can't put this down.
The battery life is super sweet, clear calls, I split between wifi and EDGE all day w/ FB, work email and texts and I just charged it last night from Thursday when I got it.
For me it is comfortable in one hand and LOVE the trackpad, although Brickbreaker scores are suffering right now....

Had my 8520 for a couple of days and I'm loving it. Some people are moaning about the screen res but whilst I'll admit its not the best it is perfectly fine in the capacity its being used. Me and my 8520 will be together for some time :-)

I cant believe there are only 12 who have come forward. I know everyone with a BB isn't on here (even though they should be), I had to buy mine from t-mobile online as the 6 local stores blew out 80+ of these in the first 2 days. That includes 2 of those super walmarts

I think this will replace my Bold for more than weekend use....

I got mine last night and am pleased so far. Since I was coming from a Pearl the 8520 is definitely a step up. Bigger screen, faster processor, more memory, full qwerty, and new OS. The only thing it lacks that I had on my Pearl 8120 is a camera flash, but even with the flash, the pearl took lousy photos. My only complaints thus far are:

    1) the buttons are a little "clicky" and I wish they were a bit softer and more silent. Makes it hard to text under the table during a meeting at work without others hearing you.

2). the trackpad moves around a little up/down and can make a slight noise when scrolling. I am going to see if this is unique to my phone or are they all like this? What do others say?

Overall, a good solid phone. Since I was not eligible for an upgrade, I was not willing to pay $499 for an 8900 so the 8520 at $299 is just fine. The screen is also just fine. Granted the 8900's is better and this is obvious if you hold the two phones next two each other, but I don't do that. Ideally I would prefer the 8900 and if I was eligible for an upgrade might consider it.....though I do prefer the trackpad over the trackball. I had 2 many problems with trackballs getting stuck.

Don't get the frost! I did & hated it! You'd think the color wouldn't make a difference in the quality, but I got the black now & I love it!
