Nope mine works perfect. I gotta say now that I have used the trackpad I will never go back to a trackball.
The 8520 is really nice I'm impressed with it.

I agree; I'm sold on the trackpad. After a couple of weeks worth of use, I couldn't see myself going back to a trackball again.

Same here. Still works as good as it did on day one, unlike trackball.

    Coz it was a Samsung?

I had an HP iPAQ Voice Messenger with an optical trackpad... and that was rubbish!!!

The 8520 trackpad is awesome, and I find it much easier to use than the trackball.
It's very responsive, and so easy to navigate with

The Verizon rep that covers the store I work at let me play with their new HTC smartphone and I kept sliding my finger over the navigation key and wondering why nothing was happening. The only issue I've had with the trackpad has to do with loss of sensitivity in direct sunlight.

Trackpad is great here. Feels a little... .... ...odd at first but works a lot smoother than the ball. Very responsive. Set the thing to 90 and you are good to go.

I've had mine for 2 months now and I work in injection molding which tends to be greasy, dirty with small metal flakes floating around and it has stood up to all of that quite well! For all the crap this phone has talked on it it's proving itself more and more to me everyday.

Nice to hear the trackpad is functioning well! I have the 8900 & was thinking of switching to a trackpad device. This is another plus towards me getting the 9700. I know this is about the 8520 but I came here because you guys have the trackpad experience 1st hand.

It only appears to be loose on the European models that were made in Mexico.

You guys across the pond seem to have the better quality Canadian made models.

I remember this debate when the Storm was first released... and we ended up with the tat ones then too!
