I am trading my phone for a new unlocked storm. While both are on tmobile, do I still need to call them and get my pin number realized or does it matter in this case. The other phone has never been activated only to make sure it was unlocked for tmobile?

i have never done it myself but search crackberry for "activating a storm on tmobile" i know there are some extra steps to get all of the features working

You are fine, my friend has the same phone (BlackBerry Storm) under T-Mobile and uses BBM and Internet under the T-Mobile network.

Do I need to do anything with the PIN on the 8900?

You may have to log into your BIS account and change the PIN number. After that, everything should match up to your new BB.
