    Dear all,

I am trying to reinstall an OS to my blackberry after a 552 crash when installing the CBS news app. After a few tries following "BlackBerry 101: How to Reload the Operating System on a Nuked BlackBerry", I now get a 507 fatal error when I try to load the 4.6 OS after a JL_Cmder Wipe. It basiclly reaches the point where the BB reboot but then it stops and give me the fatal error.
    I would appreciate any help.

    Curve 8900 4.6 release 317 206, vista ultimate.

Uninstall all OS versions again... reboot your pc... then download a new version of the OS again... you might have something corrupt in your current OS you have downloaded on your PC.

Then download CrackMem... install the new OS... install CrackMem... start CrackMem, select the OS, click the Wipe button... this will wipe your device and install the OS... I've used it a couple times and it works great.

The more I think about it, the more I think it could be a USB issue? Is that possible?

You might have a defective device... but I would also recommend trying it again if you can with another pc.

That is a very frustrating error, but there may be a way around it.

When I was going back and forth from .151 and 5.0, I kept getting a fatal error 507. What I did was I just loaded the OS. I did not load any 3rd party apps until after the OS was loaded. I realized that I was loading BBM for the wrong OS and it was giving me that error. Are you loading any apps at the same time you are loading the OS?

BxRider says what I would have! Don't install those other apps. I used the DM by applying the erase all data on device when installing but I also used the idea of one of my apps being the culprit and chose to not instal any that were loaded within a week.

    Dear all,

Thanks again for all your help and suggestions, they finally leaded me to successfully restore my OS on it. For info:

The OS I downloaded came from the BB official site.

I used AC powered USB HUB to hook my BB to my laptop T61p (one issue could be that the USB port wasnt delivering enough power, as suggested by one person), otherwise, I would suggest to use a desktop with a proper USB port.

I tried probably 50 times before it worked...on friday I stopped working on it at 4 am, and got up at 8 to start for the whole day before it worked.

I just loaded the OS without any apps, as suggested

I did use crackmem loading (wipe) first with battery pulled out and putting it back right when the screen says that it starts reinitializing the device.

Thanks again, BB rocks...(at least it didn't explode like those fancy iphones).

    Cheers

PS: the error came when I was installing CBS news app from BB app world and was multitasking memory was almost full

Also, are you using a USB hub or port off the computer? Make sure you're using the hub on the computer, and different ports ON the computer. One person on here a week ago was using a front port and it wasn't working, then used a back one and had no more hiccups.

    Hi Mike,
All I can suggest it to try different USB port or use a desktop with sufficient power delivered to the USB port (I used a powered USB hub) and install only the OS, no apps.
    It will work.
