There was an article in the Boston Globe saying that ZVW would be testing its 4G in Boston and Seattle. A friend of mine went to the local VZW store and asked if his Tour would be able to get a download that would enable it to use 4g. They said yes. Is that true? I thought I would need a new phone. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Not true - the Tour has a 3G CDMA radio. It is not 4G capable at all.

I'd not say all - but many or even most could apply.

I wasn't trying to start a bash thread on vzw reps. I just wanted to double check something I heard. So when are the 4g bb's coming out?

Apparently Seattle had LTE trials going on for over a month now and Boston started today. Can't believe a rep actually said that, I really hope its a mistake/lie/error.

There's also been word here in Manitoba, Canada that a possible 4G network will be available in our province within a cpl yrs.....MTS and Rogers merging...using each other's towers to create THE largest (over 97% province-wide covergae) 1XEV/3G data network....to make equal to a 4G network!

    3G + 3G = 3G

    It does NOT make 4G.

    NO I understand that..LOL!

But semi merging CMDA and GSM networks together...makes away wider data network..for WAY more total covergae for everyone, no matter what their network..
There are for CMDA (MTS) towers in our province than there are GSM (Rogers) towers. Merge together and piggy back off each others towers = total covergae for everyone.

Wrong. Seattle went live on July 15, about 1 month ago, just like I said.

Could BlackBerry add a 4G radio to their current devices like the Tour and Curve2 without any difficulty? I dont know all the tech stuff, obviously, but couldnt they just take the 3G radio out and add a 4G one?

Nope - It will sometime I beleive till BB gets a 4G radio. I am sure all devices coming out at first will be Duel mode 3G and 4G till the entire LTE portion is rolled out
