Is there any way to change the default application install location? I'd like to make it the Applications folder rather than the Downloads folder (I just end up moving them anyway)

There is no way to change it to another folder of your choice. The way that it works, the programs down load to 'download', then you can move them anywhere.

    You can rename the folder:
    >highlight the folder
    >menu
    >edit folder
    >change name
The new programs downloads will likely then be installed on the home screen

Has anyone tried the change name method? Do they then install to the home screen instead?

Try going to application menu > bb key > options > set download folder like in this screen shot (I haven't ever tried but this should work it seems):

    That's an option that's new in 5.0

I had the option to select where to download on my Storm, but don't see that option on my Bold.

It works perfectly. Loving 5.0 and can't wait for 6.0. Go RIM. Thanks Morganizer, this was driving me crazy trying to figure out where I saw that.

I dont have what Morganizer said. I have to go into Options>Theme> click my active theme and set my download folder right from there.
