    I think it is theme controlled but may very well be wrong, I know there is no option for it though.

    That was a broadcast message she sent you. Broadcast messages are purple.

    You can't change the font color. I just figured out how it's done.. If you broadcast a msg, that's when it changes to purple. You're able to change it even if you broadcast to one bbm.
