I've had my Storm for a few months now, and generally find it excellent, apart from the poor battery life, some annoyances with text input, and not the best signal strength (compared to a Nokia) in some places. I was (am) looking forward to the Storm 2, but being on O2 (UK), I really don't want another Vodafone branded phone, if the Storm 2 is going to be another 'exclusive'.

I like touchscreen phones, and have tried the Sony Ericsson X1 (which I don't really like), and the Nokia N97 has had poor reviews. I'm tempted by the HTC Hero, but apparently it has a small keyboard, which I would find very annoying, and no camera flash.

I'm not sure I would get on with other BlackBerrys, due to the small keys, and I don't really want to go down to a smaller screen size either.

My question then is, if you didn't have a Storm, what phone would you choose?

    iPhone 3GS, without a doubt.

This response may or may not be eligible per your requirements since I don't have a Storm myself, but after trying out all the phones you've mentioned before nothing else beats the touchscreen of an Apple device.

I've so far resisted the iPhone, because everyone has one, and I too considered them a bit of a 'toy', but I may give it another look. Anyone had any experience of the HTC Touch Pro2? I like the slide out keyboard, which looks very easy to use, but am a little uncertain of Windows Mobile.

If it was available in the states, I would have the htc touch HD, Toshiba TG01,TP2, Garmin. Nuviphone, any Tegra powered phone, but that's all just wishful thinkibg. Sadface.

I don't have a Storm and don't want one. I'd get an iPhone 3GS. The iPhone is the next phone I would go to if RIM suddenly went under and disappeared from the face of the earth. No other phone can really compete with it as far as touchscreen-only phones go.

Yeah, the more I look at this, the more tempted I am. Just seen this side by side comparison with the Nokia N97, and the HTC seems to fare better.

N97 isn't really worth it unless you can get it for ~$400...

Yeah, I think I've discounted that now. It's looking like a toss up between the HTC Touch Pro 2, or HTC Touch HD. Or save the money and keep the Storm.

Unless RIM can move their OS into this century in a hurry, my next phone will be Andoid based. If I had to pick now, it would be the HTC MyTouch.

Yeah the iPhone is nice but I refuse to drink the kool-aid. Apple/ATT blocking Google Voice is enough to show me where the future will be... Android baby.

It would be a really close tie between the Iphone and the myTouch. If I don't have to pay for the plan then the Iphone but if I do have to pay for the plan then myTouch. I've tried the myTouch several times and I have no problems with it but then again the Iphone is the greatest...

I'm probably going to buy the Samsung Omnia II when Verizon gets it. But I'm possibly switching to AT&T, so in that case I may buy an unlocked one.

Definitely would get it unlocked, since the data + sms is $20 cheaper.
