    Hi

    Greetings to all.

I have spent time reading as much as I can before I look a mug on this board! Here goes.

I am soon to go to the US and Canada and wanted some info about the cheapest way to get e-mail on the move whilst away for nearly three weeks. Data roaming is far too expensive on my time plan.

I hope that I can get some wizdoms.

Looking forward to the journey with this community and the one coming.

Mmmm.. data roaming is expensive but you're going to need data to check your email. I know there's a service that converts email into text messages, which shouldn't be too expensive.

Hopefully, someone has a better answer for you!

    Good luck!

Have you looked at T mobile UK's international roaming plans? that is often cheaper than going with the plan you currently have.

    Welcome to CB!

I know but how much is it without the international plan?

If it were me I would probably just put in a local sim & use a hotel or whatever for email. Maybe even just use my bb but turn data services off.

    Hi

Thanks for the welcome and sensible suggestions. I sense that I am leaning towards picking up a pay as you go sim from possibly Rogers (though my experience of their customer care is less than helpful). I am however tempted to hold fire and get a t-mobile sim in the states and I would need to see comparisons.

If anyone experienced have got any better ideas - would love to hear from you.

    Thanks again.

O2 has the best plan and lowest roaming plans. 2.75 per mb (roaming)

Depends how badly you need email and can you take a laptop and check once or twice daily....

That might be a better option

Welcome to Crackberry, yup bringing a laptop seems a good solution if you wish to save a whole smoking heap of cash to spend on other things
