If you need PTT, go to the one who does it the best...Nextel (too bad sprint screwed them though).

I had Sprint/Nextel and the coverage was not good in my area. Just wondering if anyone had heard any rumors!

If my Storm had PTT it would be THE perfect phone. I love it already but that would just take the cake.

Verizon is starting to roll out their second generation of push-to-talk handsets over the remainder of this year so I can't imagine it will be too much longer where Blackberry should introduce some PTT devices for them.

They already have the ability of the VOIP system as demonstrated by the third party vendors so hopefully they introduce their own system in the not too distant future.

Palringo has the ability to send voice messages between people. It's not true PTT, and there is a slight lag, but it's free. There are versions of Palringo for BB, iPhone, PC, and other systems, so you can PTT with othres no matter what they are on (just have to have the app running).

Palringo still has a ways to go before it can be one of the better IM apps, but the features it does have do work well.

Verizon PTT is TERRIBLE. Six months ago my job replaced all of our Nextel phones with Verizon PTT phones and the feature is absolutely awful.

Now, granted, we all loved to b1tch about our Nextel phones, but just about every person who was rolled over to VZW would kill to have their Nextel back. And this isn't out in the boondocks where service is questionable - this is just outside of New York City, where just about everyone has four or five bars.

The feature is so terrible, in fact, that the members of my unit rarely use the phones at all any more. We're better off sending messages on our personal phones than trying to "click" eachother on our VZW PTT phones.

Bad, bad, bad. Nextel definately did the PTT thing right.

We switched from Nextel to Verizon Wireless about 10 months ago and have had a positive experience with the Verizon PTT service. Sometimes there have been some issues with our handsets as we are using the Motorola Adventure V750's and will be trying the Casio G1 Boulders soon.

Compared to Nextel, the service is far more reliable and the PTT service is much easier to manage via the web-based interface.

    No complaints here...

I liked the nextel push to talk but with nextel I couldn't make calls with 3 bars in the city . Tried verizon also but they just don't have the number of users that nextel did so it was pretty much worthless.

@gaganchow - I carry two phones, too... The work phone is the same as you - the Motorola V750 - and my personal phone is the Tour...

I don't know why, but we've just had a really tough go at the VZW PTT thing... Maybe it's because we were so entrenched in the Nextels that we just resisted change, but it really seems that the connection just isn't as good (by that I mean that there are numerous times when I can't get a hold of somebody else when, with the Nextel, it happened but not with the same degree of frequency.

    Who knows...

Let's just face the facts....Nextel is (or was) PTT king. Verizon has a very, very LONG way to go to match up to it. Maybe when those bastards at Sprint finally kill Nextel ( it has been a very long death....), Verizon will be where the people go to replace their PTT lines.
