Good news for those who haven't purchased a Tour from Verizon yet. Starting 8/01/09, there will be a new rebate for $100 starting. 8/01/09. Kind of shocking considering it only came out not even a month ago and they already raised the rebate from $70 to $100.

Just checked on the VZW site, and there's nothing there about this.

If they drop the price, they will. I just got a $50 refund on a phone I bought for my daughter about a week ago. They dropped the price by $50, I called customer service and they credited my account.

It's 8/1 and Verizon's website is still only showing $70.

That said, if it changes, I'll be wicked pissed (and expecting an additional $30).

No reason to be "wicked pissed" that people get to save a little money; it doesn't affect you. You were obviously willing to settle for the $70. Plus they'll credit you the difference anyhow if this is true.

Actually I would like to ad a correction to this post as a verizon employee myself. While yes it will be a $100 rebate, the net price of the phone will still be the same. So now the phone is $299 minus $100 mail in rebate = $199 after rebate (as opposed to $269 minus $70 mail in rebate = $199 after rebate). They are simply changing the before rebate price. I don't see the reasoning behind it and it is only more of a hassle as an employee to sell the phone in store.

I hate rebates. They are stupid and waste everyones time. Its also why I won't buy the phone from the Verizon store. Some online sites already sell the phone for less than $50 with new service.
