My auto backup is acting like it is backing up but, file can't be found and the manual backup gives a Communication error: The data was notrecognized by the device.
Sounds like something was interrupted during the backup. I would try again:
To Backup on your Desktop:
1. Make sure your Blackberry is connected to your computer via the USB cable.
2. Open RIM�s Desktop Manager.
3. Backup and Restore.
4. Click on �Backup� to do a full backup. All files are saved as .ipd.
5. To perform a selective backup hit �Advanced� and select which files you would like to save.
