I'm thinking about adding a coat or two of a lacquer to make it more glossy like the front of the phone, but as it is right now it matches the flat black side panels quite well. What do you think?

I think it looks pretty good!! If I didn't use an Otter Box, I'd probably do the same.

I'd say try the lacquer, as it would also add some protection for the paint.

Very nice looking. I would honestly say do a matte clear coat over it just to protect it. I think shiny would ruin it.

I did it myself. It's not even painted. I sanded off the chrome with 160grit, then polished it up with 400 grit.

I had originally ordered a black bezel from cnn.cn but found I couldn't safely remove all the electronics off the original.

So I taped off the electronics and sanded it down!

I like the appearance. I am currently using one of the two piece belt clips. When my storm is in its case, it covers up the chrome. I think it looks more professional without the chrome.

I might just have to do it to mine since I dropped it twice and now has a tiny chip on the chrome bezel; one on top and one larger one on bottom right. Really annoying to look at. As far as dropping it, it's still in good working condition. (God-forbid I drop it again)
