That's good to know. I was having trouble with Google maps and ended up uninstalling it. I'll give it another shot when it gets updated.

I just installed version 3.0.2. from m.google.com. So far I've run into no issues. The gps locked onto my location in about 5 minutes. Will test it out further and report back if there are any issues.

version 3.0.2 reads OS4.7 as a Storm, therefore provides touchscreen controls. sure, its a minor issue and its perfectly useable.

Yeah it works fine , it just thinks its a touchscreen. You just have to use the shortcut keys

+ is zoom out and - is zoom in. (no need to hit ALT)

Is there a way to see how locked on you are? Meaning, within what range. I know when I had the Storm I could click on the ball and it would give me the current information. Now, when I try it, I get the initial 4900, but never get any other confirmation that it has acquired satellites or the new accuracy reading.

Ahh sweet, I was trying to figure this out because it has the little "blue ball" icon in the lower right which I was assuming would center to your location if you clicked it on a Storm.

    Good to know. Reinstalling now

Sorry for my ignorance as I am a new BB owner. I just received my tour and am interested in google maps but have held off because I have read some post where it's identifying the device as a storm so you have to use shortcut keys. Is this now fixed and can I use it on my tour?

Ok currently downloading 3.0.2 as I type this. Do I have to change the GPS settings in order for this to work. I remember reading something in another thread about changing E911 to something else? Also how does this impact battery life since I find the app super handy but do not plan on using it everyday. Thanks in advanced.

GPS (in advanced options) has to be set to Location On instead of just 911 only to run GPS apps (like bb maps and google maps, etc). I haven't noticed this being enabled change the battery life by itself (some may debate), but running a gps program will obviously drain the battery quicker since it is constantly finding your location and updating the map by downloading content.
