BlackBerry Desktop Manager 5.0.0.8 Now Available To All | CrackBerry.com

Since VZW is letting non-tour owners in on the software is there any reason to update?

    Any reasons NOT to update?

Is the general consensus that DM 5.0.0.8 will be required when the Offical 5.0 OSes drop this fall?

I am using it and can't tell the difference. Am I a noob?

I guess backups were kind of fast. Other than that its the exact same DM, no new phone software just a new widget for your PC.

I think you won't be able to tell the difference until os 5.0 comes out. So I'll keep using 4.7 for now...

I've been using it on one computer for the last month and haven't had any problems with it. As already stated, it is a little quicker than the dm update from April but not by much.

It always makes me wonder... There is updated software available and ppl ask if they should upgrade. NO, Don't upgrade!!! Developers just wanted to waste some time and money and worked on an update to kill time.
Updates are usually fixes and improvements to existing software, so why even think twice about updating or not?

Because SOME upgrades break existing, working features.

Does it give you the ability to back up messages you've sent from your phone on BIS?

Noob question: Do I need to uninstall the prior version of DM, or does the installer deal with it? Thanks.

I just installed it. I had Roxio Media Manager or whatever it was called.

When I went to install DM 5.0, without removing the previous version, and chose not to install Roxio Media Manager, it automatically removed the previous version of DM and the Roxio Media Manager during the install.

I just tried a sync and found it to be a bit faster. I haven't done a backup yet. I haven't noticed a huge difference.

I download 5.0, but App Loader will only show 3rd party apps. Anyone know how to fix this.

I completed a back up and a sync and both were noticeably faster than DM 4.7. I also didn't get the error messages that I frequently had during backups with 4.7 requiring the browser cache to be cleared. We'll see what happens with time and more backups.

...and thats when you go back to what worked for you. We are not talking about an OS for the phone, we are talking about DM. Chances are the update is available for a reason, security, functionality, etc...

I have a storm and tour and started using 5.0 DM when I got the Tour and really seems to be no difference. Seem to be a few small changed but nothing life changing

I updated to 151 on DM 5 and had no issues whatsoever. Back-ups and syncs are alot faster. That is all I have noticed so far. My belief is that there are some behind-the-scenes coding in there to get us all ready for OS 5.0!!! We can hope can't we/??

DM version has no relationship to your phone OS version. I've been using the DM5.0 since it first leaked and it's been rock steady and faster than 4.7. Upgrade now and see fo ryourself!

Exactly there are some folks who refuse to use DM 4.7 over 4.6 because of some issues.
