1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.
NOTE: Greetings go to member ftg888 for finding this

I'd love to install this on my gf's pearl and mess with it, but don't want to put something on her phone without hearing about it first. Please post any findings!

Fgt888, have you had any stability issues with it? Making it a little more responsive sounds great, her pearl feels sluggish when I use it, but then again, I'm used to my bold. I'll probably install it for her, then downgrade if she has issues.

well after playing with it for a few days and REALLY HAMMERING IT with
8+ open applications I can say everyone should be running this release.
ITs speedy, ok on battery life, multitasks well. I have NOT noticed memory leaks (im sure they are still there). ITs the best OS for the 8120 so far. Entirely chuffed with the update. (especially as its free). now if would could only get some 5.0 love. which i doubt.
the difference from 161>162 is quite remarkable. i think 162 is the new benchmark for 8120/8100/8300 devices. (GSM ONLY)
Only drama I've found is the battery doesn't seem to last as long as before but tbh I'm a really heavy user and if the trade off for more memory and faster processing is worse battery life then so be it pass me the car charger

the above is definitely the correct link, and I have been rocking this flavour for the 8110 for over a week, and is definitely better than the .161
I can second this, I downloaded it, and it is definitely .162.
Too, anyone had any issues with this? I upgraded mine Saturday evening, and since then have had my first crashes. 2 of them
can't remember what I was doing the first time, but on my way home from work today I was checking weathereye, and it kinda hung for a minute, then crashed.
boom, red flash, and gone.
I'm hoping its not the os (but nothing else changed..) but I wanted to see if anyone else experienced anything negative..
cheers

make that 3 crashes
just put it into keyboard lock, and boom red-flash....
anyone have any links to good info on the log-file?
ie ALT-LGLG, the contents are rather cryptic.....
I wold like to debug what is happening to cause the crasheS, but it seems almost as bad as bsod's.....hard to gleen any meaning...

Can you PM me that link as well, please? I'm still running an ancient TMobile version and would love to get up to current and cure some of these memory and overall speed issues.
