Having major issues online trying to upgrade. WTF?!? Telephone rep doesn't even have it.
I'd suggest calling and getting a different phone rep. I was able to pre-order mine over the phone at 9 am as an upgrade. Initially they said that they normally don't pre-order phones but I directed them to their main page.
I called Customer Service and they said that I needed to call back and order on 7/12. I suppose this is no different than pre-ordering? As they are still not going to ship prior to 7/13, right?
Well, I have a business account so maybe that is the difference, but it shouldn't be.
If anything I would think a business customer account would get precedence over the average Joes. Of course I was off contract so they probably wanted to get my locked in so I didn't wonder off... Who knows...
The people that are pre-ordering right now aren't actually pre-ordering. Their rep is agreeing to put their information in once the system allows for it.
I was told, by customer support, that the problem of not being able to upgrade to the Tour is being worked. They definately want you to be able to do that, but right now the link isn't working properly and I should try back tomorrow.
I order mine online and got the confirmation ... check the online status and it told me check back in 3 days for credit approval or availability of the phone. I added another line to my primary phone and got on the family plan.
There is no way for reps to pre-order in their system. What they're doing if they tell you they're pre-ordering is setting a case with you information and going in and ordering the phone for you on the 12th.
I did this for the storm release and when I got in at 9AM PST it was already sold out. Those were a lot of unhappy call backs. I won't be doing that again.
