I heard you can use your BB to hack into other BB's and have all of there texts, messages, call logs, contacts etc. forwarded to your phone. Person I heard it from said all you would need is their PIN, and using Bluetooth to connect with your phone.

Is this true? Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

I would hate for someone to be looking at all my bidniz.

i have never heard of this although i aint saying its not possible but i would think Blackberry would make it a little trickier than that to hack a phone

Well I've connected with my buddie's phone at work once using bluetooth, I was able to see the name of his picture files but I couldn't view them, he could do the same.

That's a pretty scary thing. But I'm gonna have to agree with shaun. RIM has surely considered this and if not they should look into. Until this is either confirmed or debunked I wouldn't be giving my PIN to to anyone I didn't know that might be shady.

Best anyone could do is clone IMEI and get calls and some txt's. Not email or BBM.. Don't think you could send out though on Cloned IMEI

Couldn't you just set bt so it's not discoverable by other devices and turn off unnecessary services in bt options?

Cloned IMEI doesnt identify you to the network. Cloned SIM would do this. BBs have not been hacked, and for bluetooth to work, you would need to accept it anyway. Cloning a PIN/IMEI doesnt clone a BB either, you need another piece that you cannot change on the device, it is imprinted one time and one time only.

the thing with the pin and receiving their emails
isnt that just the pin not being freed from the carrier of the previous owner if you got a used bb?

One PIN can only be registered to ONE carrier at a time. That is this issue.

You can block Bluetooth hacks on the BB very easily, what you listed is one method.

Search around RIM's site; they have had a contest/challenge/whatever you want to call it, to anyone who can hack a BB to do what your thinking of.

No one, in all the years RIM has been making BB's, has done it.

If you use BIS - yes, you can only be registered to ONE carrier at a time. But if u use BES/ BIS u can use different carriers.
