Hi

I know nearly all of you would have a DATA plan but i actually cancelled mines 2 months ago. And 2 days ago i upgraded my curve 8900 from .114 to .199. My gps/maps dint use to work on .114 without the data plan and after i upgraded n i was in nyc 2day n i fired up maps..it started streaming data over it and started displaying the maps :S... this is very weird!!! And on my online tmobile account shows tht i used around 110KB of data!! even though i dont even have a data plan!!!

has any1 ever came across this???

Make sure your not being charged. Might make for a hefty bill.

Why fire up maps without a data plan when you seem to be aware that it requires a data plan???

They must have you on a pay per use plan. Most providers can block the internet (data) use.

I believe the GPS alone works as far as longitude/latitude without a data plan but you are def being charged for using bbmaps/google maps...it has to download the visual maps and whatnot and that uses data...which is quite pricey without a plan.
