I read about the new blackberry messenger with sms threading, pin barcoding but I didn't see anywhere of the exact date of it's release: does anyone know when this new blackberry messenger is coming out?

Also, I've heard the Facebook application not working well with OS 5.0, does anyone know when they will fix this bug?

Purpose: I am willing to upgrade OS again but won't until a) I know exactly when the NEW blackberry messenger is released and b) they fix the bug to get Facebook to work through 5.0.

Please provide insight, Thanks!

As far as BBM is concerned, seeing as it is going to be included in all device flavors of 5.0, it would be my guess that the next round of leaked 5.0 betas are going to come with BBM 5.0. Even if it doesn't happen on the next round, the one after that for sure. As far as Facebook, that may not get "fixed" until RIM releases 5.0 and/or a new version of Facebook that will be compatible, and who knows on that one. My hope would be that they would release a version (or at least beta test one) that would be compatible with 5.0 before 5.0 drops, but it hasn't always happened that way. Either way, this is all speculation on my part, but from what I have gathered from the blog posts, BGR, etc., that's probably going to be what happens.

BBM2 is still in beta. Which is why its not included in any of the builds that have leaked thus far. Most of us just load the cod files. But it is featured in some of the newer builds. At the current leak rate, it will take a while to get into the "wild".

Facebook isn't the os its the app itself I'm guessing needs newer api's or whatever but an update will fix that. maybe 2.0??

It is not just the cod files, those are not hard to come by. Its fails for the same reason FB fails on 5.0. (The reason for the failure was told to me by another)
