So I've had the storm since day one, I've always been a mac user and have just become an apple fan because of how simple and easy things are to use. The storm has opened up a new phone experience for me for sure, but I still use my iPod touch to use my media and typing on that dam thing is just near impossible. Making a phone call is just, well lets just say if I was being murdered in my home, I wouldn't be able to make the 911 call. I've always wanted the iPhone but have heard the AT&T service sucks, and Verizon has been like 100 percent there, however, I have never been satisfied with my phones until the iphone. So, I'm jumping ship, canceling my contract for $175 (ouch) and then getting the new 16GB 3GS, this whole process is costing me a good 400 plus dollars, (mind you I'm a just graduated college student, yes I'm an *****) But I just know the iPhone will finally satisfy the 400 phones I've gone through. However I still really like the Blackberry concept, the touch click storm is just frustrating what set me off was my inability to update to the latest software update, since I don't have a PC (and I used someone else's crappy PC and it still did not work) I took it into Verizon where they told me to clear everything off, which I did and told me what I already knew, with no luck, and then I couldn't even get pocketmac to re-sync my contacts, I wanted to throw it against the wall, but I didn't.. And then it's just ridiculous that I have to put a piece up paper under the battery and stuff to make the screen click. It's just a little ghetto. I hope that many improvements are made on this device because maybe I'll return to it. Who knows if AT&T really sucks bad I'll return to verizon for the tour!
So is anyone else doing this too? or am I just the crazy one?
The only way I would even consider jumping to the iPhone 3G$ is if it was on VZW. I will in no fracking way go to AT&T, their network sucks, I don't care what anyone says.
Even then, I'd have to take some things into consideration because I do A LOT of multitasking on my Storm and the iPhone cannot do that with 98% of it's program support. That being said, I'm waiting on the Storm 2.
The only way right now I could be convinced to jump to AT&T is for another BlackBerry, and the Bold is not compelling enough of a reason. iPhone is not even a blip on the radar.
I am seriously considering switching over for the iphone. I am waiting until the end of summer though; that's when my girlfriends contract is up so we'll both switch over then. I don't want to have to pay two ETF's.
no im gonna pass on the iphone. i dont know enough about it to risk breaking a contract and paying an etf for a phone that i most likely wont like. if it functions even remotely close to an ipod touch then i definitely wont like it. i might however consider picking up an older used one, jailbroken and unlocked of course, from CL if the price is right. at least that way if i dont like it i can try to resell it and not be locked into a contract with AT&T. i have a feeling that the 1st generation will be getting very cheap very soon. around here people are selling the gen1 8GB for around $300 and people are actually willing to pay that for a used iphone. personally i dont see it.
I have more than one friend that came to Verizon dropping their iphone in the process due to AT&T having crappy service. If you live in a city and never plan on leaving it than iphone up. If you go on vacation anywhere there is grass, sand, or water than kiss your AT&T service goodbye. Also from what I they said when you lose 3G roaming with the iphone it becomes almost unusable due to its dependence on 3G. I know too many business people that hate it.
On the other hand friends that never leave the city and don't need a phone for anything business related love the iphone. If your phone is your "toy" get an iphone but if your phone is your lifeline keep the blackberry.

Not giving the Tour a shot?
Back to topic, i dont think its worth for anybody to jump ship when you can just get a iTouch.
That network is crappy. One good example was yesterday on dog the bounty hunter. Beth had an iphone and she kept dropping her calls. You can tell she was getting avergrated with it and wanted to throw the iphone out the window.

i used to love my storm, but after the 1st wonderful one died on me, it's just been bad experience after another. the main beef is that the storm's phone app is just plain terrible. very bad lag. i usually get 1 1/2 rings b4 the call ends (b/c the phone doesn't register the call until like 2-3 rings for some reason). it lags really bad that the call timer is frozen. hopefully the tour will be a champ cuz i don't wanna go to sprint, but i can't keep dealing with the storm issues.
It's amazing, people shop more for the phone than they do for the network. I had AT&T and never going back. I don't care if Apple gave away the iPhone, I wouldn't go with AT&T. I went with Storm, haven't looked back. End of story.
