What issue are you running into with the update? 19.6MB of application memory is plenty.

You can also get rid of any un-used languages, VZNav Visual Voice Mail and social networks you don't use. BUT...have you tried installing from DM instead of OTA? It's easy and your available mem should be fine.

Anything else you would do to gain app memory would involve the use of a PC. I would suggest taking the advice posted earlier and simply use DM. The OTA upgrade, while more convenient, has seemed to cause problems for a lot of users.

Increase memory via browser > menu > options > cache operations > clear all + if u haven't, delete old messages.

You must be running something or not closing things properly. Something is chewing up your memory. Also DM is good for updates and saves your 3rd party apps.

When i tried to download the OTA upgrade to .148, i had to remove commonly used programs just to free up space (AIM, Facebook, Myspace, and a few others) just to find enough memory to download. I also had to restart 3 or 4 times just to get enough memory to complete the download and install. What a pain!

To really free up memory you need to work on the phone with a PC, there is a link in my signature for memory optimization.
