can anyone help me with this, i have the facebook icon showing on the top of my screen saying i have a new notification but when i go into facebook there is nothing new. how do i get rid of it?

Have you tried double checking your notifications in the Facebook app?
I've had this happen once or twice when two things have come in at once to the BB, checking notifications again seems to sort it out.

Nah i ahve tried it, even tried turnin the phone off n back on, this morning tho when i woke up the phone was boiling hot n battery was flashing red but when i had went to bed last nite it was fully charged. Any ova ideas?

Try a battery pull - while the phone is on, pull the battery out of the device, wait 20 seconds, put it back in.
