If I've already been using the leaked .148 OS for awhile now, do I need to install the official version from Verizon?

In a more nicer way, no. There is no need for you to upgrade.

in my opinion and for me, i had da leaked 148 and i installed the official and form this phone of mine, hte dang leak works waaay better than the leak for what ever reason..the leaked did pretty well but sometimes it started freezing, since i installed the official, fone has yet to freeze..NOT EVEN ONE TIME! they say the leaked and official are the same but if u read post from people, some leaks worked good on peoples fones, some leaks worked bad...its no harm putting in the official and seeing what happens, n my opinion of course..hope this helps u out

Huh? There's no way you searched and came up with nada. As others have already mentioned, this same topic has been brought up numerous times in the last two days. Your just lazy... Go ahead admit it

I just did a search for the words in the title of the op. "Need to upgrade from leaked .148 to Official .148?" I looked at both the threads and the posts. There was nothing on the first page of either the threads or posts that answer the op's question. The Crackberry search function is pretty bad. I use Google to search for threads that might answer questions. A Google search for the op question came up with the answer in the very first result - as well as the 2nd and 3rd.

However, I do have one silly question? 3 or 4 months ago Blackberry released DM 5.0. Why did Verizon release a 4.7.0.148 rather than 5.0.0.148????

5.0 OS for the storm is still in development and not ready for release yet. Hopefully soon though.
