    BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.253 (Multilanguage)

    Package Version: 4.5.0.253
    Consisting of:
    • Applications: 4.5.0.160
    • Software Platform: 3.4.0.41
    • File name: 8330AMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel253_PL3.4.0.41_A4.5.0.160_Tel us_Mobility.exe
    • File size: 83.15MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Instructions to install on ANY 8330 from ANY CARRIER.

    1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization." When the device boots up it will then restore your information. When the Apploader Wizard says Loading Operation Successful you may then unplug the device.

So far, the only difference is that the on screen call timer is back. (.138 took it away).

No one has reported RF issues with it yet, but we need more people running it to know for sure if that has been fixed.

OS's are device specific. The 8330 and the 8330m may be similar, but they are not the same. I know of someone here who claims to have made this work, but I would NOT attempt that on mine.

If you have an 8330m, wait. An update will come out.

If anyone starts having problems downloading this OS you can download it at Megashares or at MEGAUPLOAD.

m is the newer curve as in 8330m. They use a different radio than the "e" version and where do you see this can be used for "e" an/or "m" all I see is it can be used on any carriers 8330. Unless the software says it is for the "m" series, I would not try installing it on that device.

Cr@p... I just did a *228, option 2 to update my prl just for the heck of it to see if I would have the RF problem (cycling from 1x, 1xev, etc). I do.

Had to do a QuickPull reset. Hopefully, it doesn't come back during "normal" operation.
