No, it requires touch.

If it's a resistive display (which I doubt) you'd be able to use nails (or a stylus for that matter) but if it's capacitive, which is more likely, no.

Dang....guess I will just have to suck it up and get used to it. I shortened my acrylic nails (thumbs) as short as I can but I still struggle typing on it.

I don't know if this solves your problem at all, but they do make a stylus that works on capacitive touch screens. If you could use a stylus, then you'd be fine.

I did the same thing but found I was still struggling... now I've pretty much gotten used to where the buttons position are and I've actually gotten pretty fast too... =)
