so im thinking about purchasing a blackberry8820 from "a guy". he says its not stolen or anything but i dont trust people. if it was stolen... do they have lo-jack type things in the phone? can it be traced? i dont want to get arrested or whatever for having a stolen phone (even tho he said its not stolen)

No lo-jack, put get the pin number and call your service provider. If it was reported, they won't activate it.

I agree with Joni4, the only sure way to tell if the phone is legit is to check with the provider. If it has not been reported as missing or lost, you should be OK.
