Hey guys. What's the best os you've used for your best battery life. I have a friend who complains that he gets horrible battery life. Him and I doing the same things, the same time, I have way more battery life on my BlackBerry bold. Hmmm. Can anyone let me know what's a good os for him to use to get the best battery life? I just got my bb 8900 so I am not sure, but I have had a blackberry for the last 6 years and have never had a bb that doesn't have amazing battery life. I would be interested to see the answer to the question...

Any of the 150 plus OS have better battery life than the 114 that the phone came with.

Everything i have read from this site regarding the OS's, and battery life have all been different. It would seem you would have to download them all and try them for a few days to find the one that works the best with your BB.

.231 has been the best so far. Not enough time with .239 to tell a difference

the 5.0 beta is AMAZING for battery life. given some third party apps don't work - the battery life is far beyond what i thought it would be. I can be surfing the web on my BB - on and off - all day and not drop below 40% left. .206 was really good and .231 seemed to chew up the battery a little ....

Anything above 114 will have decent battery life IMO.
206 has been dandy for me but I will upgrade soon.

I'd love to upgrade to 5 but no facebook is a dealbreaker for me.

As the only living person who still uses the original .114 OS I think my battery life is pretty good. this weekend I was using BT, at least 90 min. of calls, many txt/sms, tons of emails read, a little bit of GPS, and I went 2 full days. I think the battery is pretty strong.

Just installed .239 because I'm not satisfied with the battery life of .206 because of my heavy browsing and chatting.
Will report back after a few days of use.

One problem, I can't see the status of my friends in BBM. I remember some people mentioned this problem, but I thought it wasn't with .239.
Can someone help me? How can I show their status?

Mine is perfectly fine with the OS 114, but a lot of people have problems with 114. I guess my phone is a very good one, or a very odd one.

i still use 114. my battery life is great too. i see no reason to update to a beta os if battery life is the only minor improvement. i like my os' nice and stable. if it ain't broke...

Like everybody says, it depends. I tried every OS except .206 and the newest beta. OS .174 gives best batt for my 8900, while OS .199 is the best for my GF 8900.

Try them out and see what works best for you.

I too didnt like .114. Thats how I ended up on these forums, I was looking to see how I could improve my battery life. Ive tried .168, .174, .199, and .206. I found .174 was solid with performance and battery.

Yeah My fiancee has some issues with her BB's battery drain so quickly for 3 1/2 hours when she always surfing the internet . But My BB doesn't.. thats strange! anyway, I lend her my EMERGENCY CHARGER for now-(when RIM release the official OS update for public soon)


it will recharge blackberry while you use phone or surfing on web, and watch the movie for up to 9 hours.

I highly recommending that get the Mini USB Portable Energizer or other for emergency recharger. its better than nothing!
