Just want to warn you, you will probably be "flamed" in the next few posts because most users here have come to the conclusion that Verizon Reps don't know what they are talking about and are just trying to please the customer by telling them something they want to hear.

Not trying to be rude or flame you at all... But really I would not pay much attention to what the Verizon rep told you. Because really they do not know when it will be released. And they also do not know what version is in testing. To be truthful you will probably here about a official release here on CB before the verizon reps know that it has been released

Same basic story here, I called VZW to change my texting plan the other night, and while I was on the phone asked her for the status of the OS update. She said she didn't know, and went to ask. When she came back on she said she'd talked to 3 different people and the answer she could give me was that as of right now, there is no set release date. When I asked her about the "reported" (in the media) release dates, she likened the situation to video game releases that get pushed back. She went as far as to state that certain people at Verizon use a new OS for awhile before it is released, and if they find problems or glitches; it might not get released on schedule. This is probably the "friendly user" phase of testing that Patches is always referring to, and what he said .141 failed (am I allowed to mention his name, since he is banned for some reason? *LOL*)

She didn't try and BS me, she didn't tell me anything I didn't know from reading CB. But the point is, some reps DO go out of the way to get an HONEST answer and aren't afraid to give it to you.

...that every ****** that posts this crap has 0 posts?

Why because some fool thinks it is funny to create another user ID and log on and start a flame fest. If mods truly think that the flaming and crap that happens here is worth breaking out the BanHammer, then delete this crap and ban the user. While you are at it, ban that IP address. You have the technology to see if someone is using multiple accounts, use it to stop this *****

We all just need to wait for judgement day...whenever that will be...The only thing we can guarantee is that whatever a VZ rep says mark it down as not being true...VZ corporate will put out a statement once they settle on the next OS and its date of release...

If the said user has only posted in the social forums or the owners lounge they will only have 0 posts since no posts counts have counted towards there total.

But in regards to people giving stories for what they have heard or seen. To be quite honest with you. They are normal consumers looking to pass on info. It has been mentioned on here before, everyone has a right to post as a user @ crackberry. It has also been mentioned before that if you don't have anything to say on the thread topic that is relevant and offering assistance then to not post. Pass up the thread and move on. But if you wish to offer assistance, then point the OP in the right direction.

Most new users come for help and to offer info that they heard from Verizon. They don't know that Crackberry has the inside track on allot of info and we can make it out to be false very quickly.

But when a thread is started with someone wanting to providing info what they think is relavent and good info. They wanted to share. But in all serious enough with the "Flaming" and "FAIL". It does not accomplish anyting and quite frankly starts more problems then anything. Which is why allot of threads like this are in the lounge. But instead of putting someone down to a low level. Just let the thread go and have no posts at all then bashing and degrading a general. Most new people are just posting cause they want to help. They don't mean anything by it.

Again a good old refresher helps out as well.

    CrackBerry Rules for Member Conduct

Play Nice, Be Helpful, and have Respect!

This means keep the language clean, keep your posts polite, and dont get into arguments over dumb things. If somebody responds to a thread you posted in poor fashion, ignore it, and the moderation team will quickly clean it up (you can always message or email a moderator at any time if you observe anything that is in poor taste/against the rules). Think back to what your parentals and teachers used to lecture - if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Always remember that we are all unique and at different levels here - some of us are experienced BlackBerry users and forum junkies, while others are just starting out. If youre on the experienced side, have patience for those just joining in on the fun and be helpful. With a little patience and a little help they wont be newbies for long. Instead of responding to a question by posting "Search", respond with an answer and point them in the right direction. Also remember that it is our differences that keeps this place interesting. If everyone was from the same place and at the same experience level it would be boring. This is a worldwide community united by a common interest - our love, or addiction as some would call it, for the BlackBerry!

Standard CrackBerry Forums Posting Rules and Guidelines

The following Rules & Guidelines for making Forum Posts will help keep the CrackBerry Community a Happy, Healthy, and Functional Family of BlackBerry Users for centuries to come. When it comes to Posting Rules & Guidelines, we are not reinventing the wheel here, but are relying on proven rules used by other top forum sites on the web:

    Post in the Right Forum
Weve done our best to layout the forum categories so they are logical and make sense. When you are creating a new thread, do your best to get it in the right category. We want these forums to be value added and educational. The General CrackBerry Discussion and General RIM/BlackBerry Discussion are good places to post if you have a serious question but are not quite sure where to put it. These forums are less stringently moderated, while specific forums (BlackBerry 8700 Series for example) are more strictly moderated to maintain their quality and usefulness.

And of course, we also have the Off-Topic Discussion forum. This is the place on the site to have fun and talk about whatever. From sports to the weather to what to buy your girlfriend for her birthday (buying her a new blackberry is always a good thing), anything goes in here. Just remember to keep it clean, keep it productive and keep it legal!

Avatars, User Names, Signatures, General Posting Guidelines
Member User Names and Avatars must be appropriate for a Public Forum of all ages. If the moderation team does not feel your Avatar or User Name is appropriate you will kindly be asked to change it (User Name will be changed to one of your choosing by Administration). Username changes can be made by an Executive moderator. Username changes are only granted in the case where a member accidentally registers with an inappropriate username (something offensive that must be changed, a full name or email address) or a special circumstance requires a change absolutely necessary. You may contact sitesupport @ crackberry.com to request this change.

Signatures are allowed, and may contain up to one external hyperlink (points to a webpage outside of CrackBerry.com), but should not be excessive in length nor contain any promotional text (enticing users to click). Traffic leaching will not be tolerated. Additional signature links are acceptable, so long as they point to pages within the CrackBerry.com site (favorite how to article, forum rules, etc.). Signatures should be small and tasteful and take up 1 - 4 lines max in the default font size (the last thing we want is to look at a forum thread and see 15 big signatures that take up all of the screen real estate). Moderators will determine what is acceptable or not.

During your posts, refrain from excessive use of colors, UPPER CASE LETTERS, and excessive use of emoticons. It is fine to express yourself using each of these means, but do so in a reasonable manner. Use common sense.

    No Advertising Policy
CrackBerry.com maintains a No Advertising policy in the forums. Individuals/Businesses may not make posts promoting the sale of their own or other competing stores Products (Accessories, Services, Software, Themes, etc.) or sales. Traffic Leaching is strictly prohibited. If you'd like to promote or advertise your Accessories, Services, Software, Themes etc. on CrackBerry.com please contact Kevin Michaluk directly. Kevin can be reached via email, kevin at crackberry.com.

Individuals looking to Sell or Swap personally owned items (i.e. Used Unlocked AT&T BlackBerry 8700 for Sale) may post in the Buy & Sell forum.

Please note, if individuals (not related to the company selling a product or service) post on an item that is or becomes available in the ShopCrackBerry.com store, if available for the same price or less we reserve the right to update posts to this link (gotta keep in business!).

    Cross/Double Posting
Please post to the MOST relevant forum. Double or cross forum posting or other attempts at flooding the forum with a stream of posts will be removed. If you find that you have posted in the incorrect forum, please contact a moderator to have it moved to the correct location.

    Bumping
This refers to posting with the deliberate intention to either pad your post count or to keep a thread 'hot' so it appears at the top of the forum. Bumping can sometimes be useful, but you must wait three days from the original post to bump the thread. Only one bump is allowed per thread per user. CrackBerry.com's moderators reserve the right to delete useless bumps at their discretion.

    Make Meaningful Posts
While CrackBerry.com is geared as much towards entertaining and connecting the Crackberry community as it is to helping solve problems and staying on top of news and rumors, all posts made within the site should be value added and on topic to the thread (even in the free for all). Hijacking a thread off-topic is a big No-No, and posts made for no reason other than to increase post count will be wiped from the site.

    Use a Descriptive Title
This rule is simple; help us to help you. When you create your thread / post, think of it as if 'somone else' is reading it. With that in mind, make your subject lines related to the content of your post. Having a subject line of 'help' or 'now what', will not really help others later when they do a search for a particular issue. So, try to be a little more creative. Example: My Pearl will not show myFaves icons or How do I use BB Maps on my 8100

    Foul language
Please keep posts and links family appropriate. The administrators and moderators reserve the right to delete posts at their discretion if they are deemed inappropriate or offensive. Users will be giving a warning for the first violation; any subsequent violation could result in a ban from the forum.

    Personal Attacks
Do not flame, insult or post personal attacks against other users. Be courteous, not rude. Any instances or reports of harassment of members will be treated seriously. CrackBerry.com has a zero tolerance policy against this kind of behavior, which may result with an immediate temporary or permanent ban at moderators' discretion. CrackBerry.com is a friendly place - treat members with respect at all times. If you don't have something nice to say, do not say it!

    Reporting a bad post
There is a "Report bad post" button on the top right side of each post (red/white triangle) or you can send a PM to a moderator.

Use the Site Search and Forum Search
If you have a basic question that needs answering, depending on the specifics, theres a good chance the answer might already be posted in the forums and/or elsewhere on the site. Weve assembled a lot of the basic blackberry FAQs on the site, and with the forums growing daily there is a lot of knowledge accumulating in the database. Doing site searches before posting will help keep things efficient.

    Multiple Identities
Only one username or account is allowed per CrackBerry member. If you have forgotten your log in information, do not create a new account, please contact us. Users found with multiple accounts will be banned.

    Keep it Legal
No posting of Warez in the forums, such as links to download warez, instructions on "cracking" software, or "workarounds" that enable people to utilize for-pay services without paying. Posting this kind of content can result in an immediate and permanent ban. These kinds of activities can get CrackBerry.com in trouble, and nobody wants that, so just don't do it.

    SPAM
A message to spammers - we have NO TOLERANCE for SPAM. Post a spam message and your account and all associated posts will immediately be deleted. No second chances. You won't get away with Spamming CrackBerry.com, so don't bother wasting your time. This also includes spamming via Private Message within the forums PM system. No link abuse, traffic leaching, member leaching, advertising, ADULT content or nudity will be tolerated! To help reduce SPAM only members with at least 10 posts may post links.

    Forum Moderation Team
CrackBerry.com's owners and administrators trust that any action that a moderator does will follow the above guidelines, so please respect them, as they are volunteering their time to keep this site fun for all to use. If you feel that you are being treated unfairly, or have a question about a moderator action, you may contact them via PM, or send a PM to one of our Executive Moderators, Bla1ze or Azeis. Executive Moderators have final say in any forum moderation decisions.

    Warnings/Ban General Policy
Forum moderators do not seek to issue warnings or bans to members. It is the aim of CrackBerry.com's founders, owners, administrators and moderators that the Community Forums be a friendly and welcoming environment for all BlackBerry owners and enthusiasts of any skill level. That said, members who do not follow the simple rules above and hurt the environment vs. help it will be warned. We would rather have everyone be an active member of CrackBerry.com, but action will be taken against members who continually break the rules and cause more harm than good. The general policy of the CrackBerry Moderation team is 3 strikes and you're out. Depending on offense, the moderation team reserves the right to act more generously or with greater severity.

THE ADMINISTRATORS AND MODERATORS OF CRACKBERRY.COM RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MOVE, REMOVE, EDIT, CLOSE THREADS/POSTS OR BAN MEMBERS (HAVE POSTING PRIVILEGES REVOKED) WHO BREACH THESE RULES OR TERMS OF USE AT OUR SOLE DISCRETION, AND WITH OR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING OR EXPLANATION.

I went to a local verizon store near me and asked when the new OS is coming out and they said soon. Then I asked what version. They replied .75.

That my friends is how much verizon reps and CS know about OS updates.
