Here is the new.231 OS Java folder with 5.0 Browser Hybrid OS. This works perfectly with the 8900.
First install the new OS on your PC, then unzip the RAR file and replace your Original Java folder under:
c:drive, program files, Common Files, Research in motion, Shared, Loader Files, then select your OS folder, Then replace the "java" folder with the hybrid one you just unzipped.....Then wipe your BB (cause i do) and load your new OS...
hello i never used a beta release before , been reading alot about .231 > my question is can this 5.0 browser also be used with .206 ?> thinking of doing the .231 upgrade in morning but wondering still.
thanks
dvigue, one of us should try loading a 5.0 hybrid with the browser from .231, since people are thinking the restarts are from the browser cache. Also, if you put in the AIM from .231, facebook, etc you might be able to get 5.0 to run and still have some programs.
I'm wondering what dependency is making viigo not work on 5.0. I know facebook, AIM, BB Maps are all due most likely to service books not matching up, so if we install .231 cod files of those that are not working, we could, in theory get 5.0 running with those apps too.
I'm really busy this week, but I might build a hybrid and have you guys download it and try it out.

Duck, I would suggest sticking with the straight software signed by RIM. I don't think very highly of hybrids(just my opinion), and it's much easier if you just stick with the regular OS. .231 is good enough without having to mix it with 5.0 or any other OS for that matter. IMHO.

Playing it "safe" is for babies. I love livin on the edge. Whats the worse that could happen? I brick my phone then recover it by using the appLoader!?

I think it would be cool bassichonda96 if you build that OS. I'd give it a shot. I mean all you are doing is taking 5.0 and using .231 modules? Bc i have .231 installed right now with 5.0 modules, and I honestly dont see the huge difference. I used to have 5.0, but I couldn't stand not being able to use the majority of my apps, i mean i'm a 3rd party app guy and i have a ton on my phone. So, 5.0 didnt work for me. But I loved the stormish buttons and look it brought. But I can't remember, did the 5.0 browser have a different looking browser? Does anyone have a screen shot of the 5.0 browser? Because my browser in .231 looks the same. I attatched a photo of what my current browser looks like

Enter a Picture into a CrackBerry Post: Start a free account at photobucket dot com (or other suitable photo site), upload your picture to it from where ever you want. It is easiest to browse and upload a picture from your computer, but you can select an option to email a picture from your phone to photobucket (there are instructions at the site). After you have uploaded a picture to photobucket, copy the img code in the bottom box below the picture -- copy the whole string including the [img] parts at the beginning and end. Paste the copied img code into your CrackBerry post box and hit the Submit Reply button.
No dice for me. After I copied the Java folder over and started up DM, I got several items saying "downgrade." Looks like I'm going to pass on this hybrid OS browser.
