Loader unable to connect to device?
- ok, so... i downloaded lyricidal's installer exe for what i'm sure is another awesome hybrid (141/5.0). i've copied it into the right folder, shrank, and then ran the loader. loader connects to my device to read its current configuration, loader shows the appropriate updated system software to install, and i click install. loader shuts off the device radio (first step, apparently), and then gives me the error message that loader is unable to connect to the device. my device is NOT password protected. its unlocked. and, obviously loader connected to it in the first place in order to read its current config AND to shut off the radio. what is going on here? i've done a couple battery pulls, and rebooted my PC. still getting the same error. any suggestions? i'm currently running lyricidal's .132/5.0 hybrid.
thanks in advance.05-01-09 06:14 PMLike 0 - I would read through this and some of the links
http://forums.crackberry.com/f132/n0...source-213706/05-01-09 06:21 PMLike 0 - yeah i really couldn't find anything in there that helped me
this is the exact error i keep getting:
"The desktop loader is unable to connect to the device.
You may need to enter the password on the device."
to reiterate, i have no password set, and loader obviously connected long enough to read my current config and to shut off the radio. i've done several leaked OS upgrades before this without seeing this error. i'm using app loader, not DM.05-01-09 07:27 PMLike 0 - Most threads that i saw on the issue said you might need to wipe and then start over. Not the easiest solution but it should work and as long as you backed up everything wont take that long to be back up and running05-01-09 07:33 PMLike 0
- yeah, thats what i saw too, but in every single other thread that came up when i searched for that error message, the user was having other problems with the OS (typically no OS was loaded at all), whereas my storm is running fine... or at least fine by storm standards.
it really seems kind of extreme to wipe the thing and start over, and i suppose i'm also kind of hesitant to do so for fear of messing something up, but on the other hand, given all the OS upgrades i've been stacking on top of eachother, i suppose it would benefit me to start with a clean slate... i was just hoping there was another solution.05-01-09 07:37 PMLike 0 - well hopefully someone else chimes in with a better solution. Its early so wait til atleast tomorrow05-01-09 07:38 PMLike 0
- I was upgrading a 9500 and the loader failed after the erasing applications step. The 9500 was constantly rebooting and wouldn't stay up long enough to get connected to it. I tried pulling the battery for a while, but still no luck. I left it alone for a while and eventually it stopped rebooting and I was able to get it loaded (loader /nojvm).
If your device isn't rebooting, go ahead and do another wipe (assuming you can still get it to display its pin). If the pin isn't displaying (displays 0x0), then you can just do the "loader /nojvm" and you should be fine.
fbrimm05-01-09 10:37 PMLike 0 - well thats just the weirdest thing. i got the same error again using app loader this morning... so i opened DM to try and do one last backup, in case i really did have to wipe the thing. i had my internet connection off at the time, so DM picked up the updates... i let it do its thing, and it worked! go figure! anybody have any idea what that error is all about?

- I was/am having the same issue, only difference was i had wiped my device so it was imperative to get it to connect. I followed the instructions in the link above a bout a Nuked berry and had to connect through the loader from the command prompt. I have no idea why DM stopped working though.
weird, huh? i wonder if there was anything we could've done to avoid the issue. what OS were you upgrading from/to? oh well... glad we both got past it, for now!05-02-09 03:39 PMLike 0
