I am looking at getting the new curve 8900 for tmobile. I currently have an old pearl with tmobile, and my contract ran up a few months ago allowing me to upgrade. On tmobile.com it says you can get the new curve for 149.99 after mail in rebate. I currently have no data plan, and am not wanting to get a data plan at this time (to much money). Am I still eligible for the mail in rebate of $100, or will I be stuck paying $249.99 and get no mail in rebate? Tmobile's legal disclaimers seem a little confusing, so help would be much appreciated.
Mr_Schpiffey is right. T-Mobile requires you to get a data plan with the Blackberry in order to receive the rebate. This could be either the 9.99 email only or the one with full data (I went through this not too long ago). However once you do get the rebate you can always remove the data plan from your services.

just go full data plan anyway. its worth it. Wifi is awesome on this device.
with my other curves I could only get UMA at specific locations. with 8900 it works uma everywhere....picks up wifi long range.
OP, if I were you and don't want a data plan, I'd just suck it up and sign up for the data plan in order to get the rebate. Once the number of days is surpassed to when you can cancel the data plan without the rebate being revoked, just cancel it. This is probably your best option.

i see on the tmobile website the cheapest data plans are 39.99 a month...121 days would equate to 160 dollars just for the data service, whcih doesnt really make the rebate worth it. are there any cheaper data plans that I am just not seeing?
Hello im new to Crackberry but i just wanted to let you know
I just got my first blackberry and its the 8900 for 149.99 instantly.
The customer service guy was great...all i said was "i noticed online alot of people have been getting instant discounts without sending in a mail in rebate. Is it possible for me to get an instant discount"

Go to Best Buy and do the upgrade for $99.00 flat, no rebate and no required plan, just a 2 year upgrade
On the best buy website it says 150 for new customers, upgrades cost 250... the $99 is also after a rebate for sending in a used phone
Is it possible to just go into the store and ask for a 8900 for 100, no rebates and an upgraded phone? I just dont understand why companies don't reward customers for years of loyal service, instead giving the deals to people who switch carriers every year in pursuit of these good deals
