I have an unlocked bold on t-mobile with all my service books working correctly. If I update will this lock my BB or not?
also will it over write my current service books? (im on t-mobile)
Once a device is unlocked an OS upgrade/downgrade will not effect this. As well, service books are carrier dependent and independent of the device OS. you may need to resend your service books after the upgrade.
i'm curious now. what exactly has changed from the old .167? i feel like it'll be a downgrade from 247, but if it gives me better reception maybe i'll go for it since it's been probably thoroughly tested on at&t.

The Platform is from a build higher than .247. As to exactly what has changed, I'm not exactly sure.
The only report I've heard is that holding down the BB menu key does not call up the app switcher, as it does in .247 and .266. That says to me this is no upgrade. Just some kind of weird AT&T horizontagrade.
IMHO, this thread should be canned. Too confusing to people looking for the newest officially released OS that really is a new version of the OS.
the new .167 - just another piece of crap ATT is deploying.
Appears to be an attempt by ATT to optimize the device for THEIR network. Unfortunately this has degraded radio performance so badly I was forced to reload another OS after hours.
'Bottom of the 9th , ATT at bat, bases loaded, 2 outs and the count is full. Pitch is away and into the dirt, runner attempting to steal home - Batter swings-GAME OVER. nice job Att.
So, this upgrade offers nothing over .266 in terms of radio reception for both ATT and other carriers' customers? If this is true, what is the point (other than wanting to run an "official" release)?
No longer available? This does elevate the 'official' release standards to a new high. Wonder if Verizon can cut back on advertising with ATT contributing so much lately. Very quickly this is becoming an issue of the 9630 release date.

Haha, good play-by-play!
But yeah, it doesn't sound that nice. I also like the terminology of a 'horizontagrade' ahah
