This revision is a little quicker and a bit more stable than .247.

lol hasnt this been around for sometime?
Yes it leaked a while back. But Voda stamped it Official and it's the latest Official Release, so it gets the sticky.

There is no difference between a beta and the Official Release except the Vendor.xml file on a beta is empty versus full on the carrier release. Other than that they are the exact same.

I just did the upgrade.. Everything took about 20 minutes from start to finish, and so far it works well. Free memory was at 50.8mb after the first batt pull, which is up from about 40 on .247.

I have downloaded the OS from the link. But when I do this:

Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

I don't find that file. There is one called Device xml Document (13KB). I don't have one with the word "vendor." Is the device one the file to delete?

.266 works great for me after a few days of testing. Anyone still using .167 really needs to make the upgrade

No. Are you using Vista?? The vendor.xml file is located in C:\ProgramFiles\CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Applo ader

    In Vista it's : C:\ProgramFiles(*86)/CommonFiles\ResearchInMotion\Apploader.

But the file is definitely there.

Not using Vista and I for sure don't have a file called "vendor" anything. But I have that other one with the same extension.

I have a faint memory of this being the case with .216, but maybe not.

I could dl again. It seemed a complete dl though.

Yeah maybe you want to. The Vendor.xml file is always included in the software, as it tells the DM which carriers OS to install to your device. Go to the Control Panel and remove all BlackBerry device software, then download and install .266 again.

That seems like a very "general" statement... does he mean that in this case there is no difference or in any situation there is no difference.. I kinda doubt that.. hmmm

I'll think about it.. I need it for work so am none to excited about bricking or otherwise breaking the device.
